5/4/2020 New Virtual Course offered by the Henry George School of Social Science: Understanding Our Political Economy
The purpose of this course is to study fundamental economic principles and to apply them in solving today’s economic problems: poverty, wealth inequality, unemployment, the boom – bust cycle, high taxes, inflation, etc. The textbook used is Henry George’s masterwork, Progress and Poverty. Though this book first appeared in 1879, it is fully applicable to today’s conditions since the principles with which it deals are both timeless and universal. The instructor, Edward J. Dodson is retired financial sector executive and a long time faculty member of the Henry George School of Social Science. TheCity.nyc is preparing a public memorial project for those lost to COVID-19. If someone you know who lived in New York City passed from the virus-- be it a friend, relative, coworker, or neighbor-- please share information about them on this online form. Under 5% of the New Yorkers who have passed from the virus have been remembered in an obituary or death notice.

5/8/2020 Saga Sites: Landscapes of the Icelandic Sagas. Virtual Gallery Tour. On view at Scandinavia House in the Fall/Winter of 2012/13, Saga-Sites: Landscapes of the Icelandic Sagas tracked the great, medieval narratives of Iceland—known collectively as the Íslendingasögur, or the Sagas of Icelanders—through the 19th-century watercolors of British artist W.G. Collingwood and the personal, documentary photographs of renowned Icelandic artist Einar Falur Ingólfsson.
