Grants and loans for building owners in the Murray Hill Neighborhood Historic District

The Landmarks Preservation Commission has confirmed that they have a small grant program that provides federally funded grants to low and moderate income eligible homeowners and non-profits for restoration work. The Historic Preservation Grant Program includes, but is not limited to restoration of facades and roofs, repointing, stoop repair, replacement and repair of windows and front doors. Grants are typically $10,000 to $30,000. Information about this Grant program is at www1.nyc.gov/site/lpc/about/historic-preservation-grant-program.page.

In addition, there is a State Historic Preservation Tax credit for homeowners in certain eligible census tracts. Read more about this program at tax.ny.gov/pit/credits/historic_rehab_credit.htm. A Federal Historic Preservation Tax credit for income producing properties, read more about the program.  These tax credits are administered through the State Historic Preservation Office.

The New York Landmarks Conservancy also has a low interest loan program called the Historic Properties Fund for Restoration which provides free project management as part of the program.  You can visit their website at nylandmarks.org for information about their loans and grants.
